Exodus 24:3-8

  • At Mount Sinai, Moses delivers to the Israelites the laws and regulations - the Torah - that affirms their covenant with God. 

  • The 12 pillars represent the 12 tribes of Israel (sons and grandsons of Jacob aka Israel). The 12 apostles are the new representatives of modern covenant

  • Sprinkling of blood to seal the covenant is a precursor of the crucifixion and death of Christ


Psalm 116

Called the psalm of the righteous - it first poses the question of how one can repay God for all his generous gifts then proceeds to answer it by saying, ‘by offering praise and thanksgiving’


Hebrew 9:11-15

  • The priestly sacrifice of Jewish priest in the temple was a symbol of the one true redemption: the death and resurrection of Christ was the

  • Christ officiated as high priest in a much more magnificent and perfect temple than either the man-made tabernacle or the temple of old. 

  • Just as a Jewish high priest passes through the outer tabernacle into the Holy of holies, Christ rose into Heaven, the most holy of all places 


Gospel Mark 14:12-16, 22-26

Jesus knew beforehand of the intent of Judas Iscariot to betray him so he took precautions to conceal the place of the Last Supper

The Jewish feast of the passover with the sacrificial lamb for the deliverance of the Jews, is symbolic of the crucifixion and death of Christ for the redemption of mankind
